After listening to JDilla's legendary tape, "Donuts," on cassette in my car for weeks, I produced this in homage. At first, it started as a fun chopping experience, deemed to be called "Bagels," but it grew beyond that. It grew into a thematic showcasing our new age of music and how digital sound and technology have replaced the traditional analog sounds. This is a combination of both - taking the nostalgia and the purity of technology and turning it into an analog sounding tape.
I made this tape in one day while sitting in my hotel room, very unlike Dilla's hospital cot. After a few hours, I had snippets of these beats telling a story, stitching together memories of VHS players, first glimpses of the internet, fumbling with television antennas, and playing N64 - but also sounding dope (if I do say so myself.)
Like always, this tape is free for download but you're more than welcome to donate. I hope you enjoy! - Pathos
